
About the Program
If you are interested in television from a behind-the-scenes perspective, you may want to consider enrolling in Iowa Western's Media Production program.
Media Production is a highly specialized program, allowing students to work intensively with state-of-the-art equipment. You will learn the first-hand skills needed to succeed in all aspects of the video or television industry. Coursework includes studio production, field production, editing, writing and producing commercials, news writing and reporting, and beginning and advanced video production.
Iowa Western has a strong media studies program, giving students valuable hands-on experience in our very own cable television station, CBTV-17.
Career Information
This program is designed for students intending to enter the workforce upon completion of this two-year degree. Graduates are qualified to work as a camera operator, editor, control room operator, and possibly a producer. This field is very competitive and the best opportunities for entry level positions are at smaller, lower-paying stations, before working towards higher level positions.
