Automotive: Engine Performance Certificate

About the Program

More and more people are maintaining their automobiles and keeping them longer, which leaves mechanics in high demand. Iowa Western offers several automotive certificate programs. These programs provide an opportunity for students to select from numerous options, which can enable them to gain job enhancement or entry-level job skills. This particular program prepares students for a position as an engine performance and driveability specialist and can lead to an abundance of job opportunities in the growing automotive field.

 

Career Information

This certificate program is designed for current workers needing additional education in specific areas or students wanting to specialize in a particular area before entering the workforce. This program provides the fundamentals of electronic control systems and applications, as well as performance and emissions. In addition, it will give you a strong foundation in diagnostic techniques and equipment usage. Upon completion of this one-semester program, you will be prepared for a position as an engine performance and driveability specialist.  Students who wish to complete an advanced degree should major in Automotive Technology program and earn an Associate of Applied Science degree.
